Physics in a story

My name is Hydrogen.
One day I woke up in a very bad mood. My mom told me that I must have lost my heart and that I need to find it again to be content. Without my heart, I was torn. I felt like I was letting off steam all the time.
Without my heart, I felt like a balloon losing air, blowing off steam, blowing everyone away. My mom compared me to a hair dryer.
My behavior shocked her and she started calling me Electron. She told me that she was more shocked by me than by the electric kettle she tried to fix one day.

Listen to the text while reading....

My heart’s name is Proton.
Although my heart was much much smaller than me, it filled me up and kept me content, like a filled balloon.

My mom said that my lost heart was as well charged with emotions
longing to have me back with the sucking attractive powers of a magnet or of a vacuum cleaner.

Without me... she must be as well emotional... just like I am without her.

My mom said that once I find my heart, I will feel happy like a blown up balloon again, so I packed up and left to look for my heart.

I walked slowly away blowing off steam and turning around faster and faster, until I was rotating so fast that I looked like a propeller.
Then I started to spin faster and faster
until I was spherical like the sun. When I approached another boy who had also lost his heart, he ran away from me. To be honest, I didn’t like him either and ran away from him just as fast. I found him repelling.

My mom told me that my lost heart was also looking for me spinning around just like me.
She told me that when I find my heart, I will be so happy that I will dance with her and unite with her. Then to make sure it’s not all just a dream, I should go to sleep with her. She told me “In the morning when you wake up with your heart, then you will know that you have really found her”.

I landed on a carpet with many other boys all with lost hearts.
We were all blowing off steam and we found each other most repelling. A real live boy walked by and for luck I ended up hitching a ride with him. He touched the metal door knob to open the door and before I knew it, "Zapp", I shot across the air and landed in a sea of swimming boys with lost hearts. A bee called Metal buzzed by and landed on the door knob. I jumped on it and it flew me around before it threw me off.
I felt like a maple tree seed being spun by the wind and flying thru the air. As I was flying I was twirling and blowing off steam in all directions. I was like a sprinkler, spraying water.

The Antenna family complained of the disturbance. I landed with a spray of other boys in a river called Current
and we swam down all in a line. I couldn’t stop as I was continually pushed from behind. We all ended up in a lake and then in a hydro power generating station where they generated electricity.
We were ushered and pushed along inside a very long metal wire that looked like a tunnel. First along a thick power line, then along a thinner one until we reached a house and found ourselves in a battery charger being pushed into a battery.
When the battery was full, we started our long march. It was like our swim down the river Current.
Someone turned a switch and we were suddenly switched to flow thru a light bulb. The path was very narrow and we were all squeezed together very tightly that we were rubbing against each other. It got so hot that we all glowed red. We made light of every color. It was beautiful. We were told that some day, we might get to go thru a toy racing car to make it run.. or any electric machines to make them turn.

Making light was very enlightening. We were on trains pulling wagons called Photons and all going at the same speed - the speed of light. The only difference between trains was the types of wagons they were pulling.
All the wagons had the same volume and could carry the same amount of energy, but some were spaced farther apart because they were lower, longer, and shallower and others were spaced closer together because they were taller, shorter, and narrower.

Because all the trains went at the same speed - the speed of light, a greater number of taller wagons passed a certain point within a time span than lower wagons. This meant that a series of taller wagons carried more energy during an interval of time than a series of lower wagons. As the wagons got shorter, they got taller and passed by more frequently and thus delivered more energy. As they got shorter, their frequency and energy carrying capacity increased and changed color, from red to orange to yellow to green to blue to violet- all the colors of the rainbow when the sunshine shines thru the rain.

One day I happened to see a lost heart. As always we both stopped and looked at each other.

We recognized each other immediately and we were so happy that we started to dance. It was like being born again. We finally found each other. I was no longer just a charged electron. I was a neutral and complete Hydrogen again.

I was so happy that I jumped into a river and let myself be carried away.
I could not stop until I landed on a rock and then I could not move.
I stayed there motionless like a rock. For luck a friend rolled down the hill and pushed me back into the river.

He told me that he had been sitting a long time on top of the hill when a little boy came along, picked him up and threw him into the river below. Once moving, always moving till stopped. Once stopped always stopped till pushed to move.

That is the law of motion and movement called Inertia and Momentum. Like an apple that stays on the tree until the wind blows it off. And like it keeps falling until it hits the ground.
I asked my mom why is it that the apple falls to the ground. She told me that angels from a family called Gravity were blowing down at us from above.
They were at the edge of the universe blowing everything to the center. My brothers and I wanted to try to see if this was really true. We took a canon and shot one of our friend strait up in the air. Sure enough like mom told us, he fell back down.
When we shot him out toward our neighbor on the other side of the street, he went up and flew quite a distance away from us, landing on our neighbor's front porch.
Then we shot him out so far that he never landed. But he never went away either. He circled us like the sun circles the earth. The blowing angels on the edge kept on blowing him back to us while he kept on going away from us.
Someone protested very loudly. DID I HEAR WHAT YOU JUST SAID?? Did you just say that the sun circles the earth??

My dad told us that the sun does not really orbit around the earth. It just seems that way because we are seeing it from the earth. He said if we go to the sun and see it from the sun’s point of view, we will see that the earth actually circles the sun.
My mom added that there are as many points of view as view points. So we flew out far far away from the sun and saw it from another view point. From that far far away view point, the earth moved in a wavering line, and did not go around anything at all. So in the end all viewpoints have their truth.

My mom told me that while I was searching for my heart; my heart was also searching for me. Like a vacuum cleaner sucking up everything or like a magnet clinging on to nails. “Or like a compass” my heart claimed. “All lost hearts face the same direction together because they are all similarly emotionally charged”.
When they get stuck in such a position and stay that way, they act like magnets. Any magnet that wants to face any other direction than the others is repelled by all the others and is forced to turn, like soldiers all lined up for a march. She told me that she became a part of a very big magnet in a battery charger. One day as she was pushing in boys with lost hearts into the battery, she recognized me in the line and was able to sneak into the battery when no one was looking. She followed me until I noticed her and we reconnected.
My mom said that I was a very big boy, but like motion, size is as well relative. It all depends on the view point. When I asked her how big the universe was, and how big I was, she told me that I was one of the smallest things there was in the universe.

She said that if a boy held a balloon, and I was on that balloon, the balloon would be as big from my view point as the earth is for the boy holding the balloon.  And that a virus on an orange was like a boy on the earth. The size of a virus to the earth is the same as the size of earth to our galaxy.

I asked how big the universe was.

She replied that if the boy’s brain was the size of the universe, each of his brain cells would be like a galaxy. She said that there are as many brain cells in his head as galaxies in the universe. And there are as many atoms in each brain cell as stars in each galaxy.

You are Hydrogen, the smallest atom in the universe. You make up most of the universe and you shall grow into all other atoms that make up everything.”
